And THERE'S a daft religious law - along with cloven feet - what's the point?
Maybe one time in history all hands were getting sick from tainted pig or shellfish, so it was sensihble to avoid them, but we don't now. Why do Judaism and Islam still follow proscriptive rules/laws laid down by some old fogies millennia ago?
