Yes - Alejandro mentioned the OLE provider, which (to me) is not worth it. No, I haven't tried the DDEX provider, though at some point I may take a look at it.
I still think SQL Express is a better choice than VFP tables for a back-end, regardless of the provider. But if someone has to stay with VFP tables, and the DDEX provider indeed addresses the issues, then that sounds like a better choice.
