Around 145,000 U.S. dollars. It's a nice, 4 bedroom, 2 bath, two story house with a two-car garage on an acre of mostly wooded land (everything is woods except for my yard). In the U.S. though prices vary greatly by state and even location within cities. For instance, that same amount might get me a very small condo (if I were lucky) in California. Probably not. :o) There are condos going for 250,000 U.S. dollars near the golf course just around the corner from my house. They are not even close to how nice my house is. But there are absolutely no apartments in my daughter's school district so in order for her to attend this high school I have to accept what I can get. Prices are just plain ridiculous in some places. Demand makes the cost here. Near a golf course or water and the price jumps sky high. Next to me is a golf course (through the woods) and most of the houses there top 1 million. There are only a few in the 600,000 - 900,000 range. There is almost no crime out where I am (too rural) but I also have to drive 30 minutes on the freeway to get to work. A small commute time in comparison to those who live near large metro areas here in the U.S. but I was only 10-15 minutes from my old employment before I moved up here last year. Back there I had an acre as well in a rural setting (I prefer it) but it was the city was smaller and the commute was very short.
