A friend of mine had it done too, and he swears by it.

I'm not absolutely sure, so don't tell anybody I said this, but I think that's only useful for far sightedness or short sightedness. I wear bifocals (which I hate, btw). I suppose I could get one range corrected, but then I'd still have to wear glasses for the other, so I'm not sure it'd be worth it, especially since I really have internal issues with the idea of letting somebody mess with my eyes.
