Grape minds think alike. I just said the same thing in a reply to your previous message.

Have I just missed it about Condi Rice being interested in being on the ticket in any way, shape, or form?

I do not agree with you that she is "infinitely more qualified than Obama." She wasn't a very good NSA and I don't think she's been an especially good Secretary of State, either. The latter may not be her fault because the last thing this administration wants is diplomacy. Her hands are somewhat tied.

I hear she's a heck of a piano player, though <g>.

>But the GOP does not have a death wish. Of course the 'social conservatives' have problems with him - but if the opponent is Hillary Clinton they'll get real pragmatic. But there are a whole lot of national security 'conservatives' that don't care if he does sheep as long as he will protect the country. And Conde, while she'll have some Bush baggage, is the most legitimate two'fer you can imagine. ( and certainly more qualified than HRC to be the first woman to be President and infinitely more qualified than Obama to be the first African American President )

>The GOP sure aren't going to risk a Clinton whitehouse by running non-entities like Brownback and Mitt Romney may as well be a Moslem as far as the religious right is concerned.

>Dick Morris says now is the time for Fred Thompson to make his move - well, maybe. But I don't think he wants the hassle.

>But in a general election, Guilliani would destroy Hillary and with Conde on the ticket American politics would go to a whole new place. Imagine the debates. Wow.
>
>You have to admit Clinton/Obama and Guilliani/Rice would re-write the rulebook like hasn't been done since at least 1932. The knee-jerkers on both the right and left will kick themselves to death <g>

>>BTW, Rudy will not be the nominee even in what appears to be a weak Republican field. He had his shining moment in the aftermath of 9/11 but he remains a problematic candidate, especially to the Republican base. He has never held office higher than Mayor, which I don't think has been a path to the Presidency yet. He is from NYC. He is not conservative on some social issues. He is on his third marriage. This isn't going to sell in the south and west. Current electoral arithmetic is that the Republican candidate practically has to sweep those regions. I happen to like him OK -- he was awesome after 9/11, in fact more presidential than the President we actually had -- but I don't think he's electable in a general election.

>>>Now please God give us Rudy and Conde. Boy would that be an election!
