>West of Denver is definitely rifle rack country :o) I lived there for many years near Rifle, Grand Junction, Ward, and Nederland. However, it is also largely populated by nature enthusiasts getting away from it all. Some do not have running water by choice. Many do not believe in owning or using weapons even if your life depended on it. You do realize what the terrain is like west of Denver, right? :o) Rugged mountains and elk, deer, bear, mountain lions, etc...

Sure. And there's those {something} pigs that live under your house too, nicht wahr? Living in England it seems really weird that you guys live in a country where the wildlife could actually stalk you and kill you for dinner: cougars, bear, wolves (less so, I know). Or just plain kill yer: rattle snakes (we only have 2 species of snake, and only the one poisonous - the viper).

Strange that this guy, Jon (also a part-time UTer) lives at over8,000 feet, which is 3 times higher that the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis.

>>I know a guy who lives up in the Colorado mountains, w. of Denver, and he says there no-one bothers locking the house, as everyone has pick-ups, power tools and guns. Now that IS rifle rack country by what he tells me.
>>
>>>Actually, when I was young (under 12) all of my friends' homes had at least one weapon visible. We had one handy and a gun cabinet with the rest. Most had gun cabinets as well. We also never locked our doors or windows back then. No one broke in because they knew that everyone had a weapon and they would get shot. A whole different world...

>>>>>>Because I have a wife that nags me. I don't understand why... her dad always had a loaded shotgun behind his bedroom door. That is the last house I would want to break into.
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
