I saw suite of shipping apps called 'SMART' (from Greece I think)
which works very stable with Oracle. (Client/Server App)
I saw it in action. I am not sure about database replication across
remote sites etc. But from what I hv heard Oracle is good at that.

I saw also few Oracle FrontBuilder apps in the past and that really did not impress me at all. So if you seek rich client experience, then of course
VFP is the ulitimately the best way to go, against any backend database
