I don't view it as hoping for the best, I view it as the most common workflow scenario, even going back to my old 'Fox' days.

I did pessimistic in the old fox days as well. We all did. That's not a reason to keep doing it. ;-)

If someone needs a different scenario, it can be handled.

So how do you pass a NULL value to your SPs that use coalesce()?
