Martin, if you've retrieved the data in the middle tier, how have you transferred the data to the UI layer? I assume you've passed an entity/object... but you've also lost the DataContext along the way. That's my point. 2-tier has change tracking. Multi-tier loses change tracking unless you've got change tracking *at the entity/object level*, since that's all you're passing between layers.
