Well you've been harping on it for months, so I guess you figured out something else to worry about ... good to know you're so fickle. There's not much more to discuss on that topic- MS either will or will not provide it. There are lots of other interesting topics. Change tracking is an interesting topic. Semaphore/reservation of records is an interesting topic. I really enjoyed hearing what others think, especially since it seems to be leading to a consensus that will be useful for anybody considering a move to NET. If that makes me fickle, then I can live with that.
ADO .net are in-memory datasets, so I don't see what the big deal is.Take a look at Linq. It's not something you'll "get" until you do.
As I said, I'm enjoying the technical discussion with others here and don't feel inclined to participate in interpersonal disputes, especially on topics that the protagonists claim not to care about. If you've got some cool ideas about change tracking and/or account reservation techniques, I'm all ears.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
