On my road now (and on the road I most recently lived on), most have guns and only one or two families do not (or I don't know if those two have a gun or not). Keep in mind that I am living in a rural area. I don't know the percentage in the city, because in the city most do not know all of their neighbors well enough to know.

>Me I have the opposite concerns. Why do you need to have a gun to feel safe? I don't know the ratio gun/house here in Quebec, but it's really, really low. In fact, I don't personally know anyone who have a gun.

>Does that make me more nervous? Not at all. I think that the US media and government play a lot the fear factor. I think it's because it sell more and the governement use it as a mean to justify it action. What are the odds that your house get robbed? If it's robbed, what are the odds that someone in your familly will be in the house at that moment? (they generally go in when nobody is around) If there is someone in the house, what are the odds that they will get hurt if they do as they are told to do? You may find that the odd is really, really low (unless you live in a really bad sector, but even then, why do you still stay there?)

>What would make me nervous is knowing that my neighbors have guns. I will fear more an accident than a robbery.

>>I really don't understand this entire antigun thing here. I'm pretty sure I never will either. I grew up around guns and I've observed their use with deadly concequences as well. I agree that only those trained to use a weapon should have one, however, criminals will have them no matter what. The training is really to protect law abiding citizens from themselves. So are the gun laws. I guess there is no crime in other countries so they don't have to worry about the things that go bump in the night when their wives are home alone? They would rather the worst happen than for their wife to take out an intruder? I'm sorry, but if it came down to my daughter's life or the intruder's, no hesitation. I will admit that I prefer my daughter have a taser, but she will have a weapon. The first warning on a taser is Can temporarily incapacitate target. That's the idea isn't it?
