Well, let us put this into perspective:

[1] How many people (in total) have been on the Java team over the last five years? Including the initial code base (done down south), I estimate there has been no less than 30 developers.

[2] The first release of the VFP version (the one you inherited) was the work of only one developer.

[3] How many millions have been spent on the Java version compared to the VFP version?

[4] Is is not true that many customers refuse to use the Java version for reasons of poor performance? And this is why the Java team wants to move to an ntier architecture which would require, at minimum, major code refactoring. And just how many millions more is that going to cost?
