I download lots of concert stuff. Majority is prior to 2000. Listening to Grateful Dead circa 1994 right now.

I've had a hard time understanding music execs thinking over the last decade or so. But I think I understand it a little better after watching some episodes of "Who wants to be the next pussycat doll". One of the judges was Ron something or other. An executive from Geffen records. I almost consistently didn't agree with his comments about the contestants.

And one of the most important things I noticed about his comments was his insistence on present tense. One of the main claims I've often heard is that the reason for some great bands today is that they were nursed along by their record label in the beginning. Their talent was recognized by someone. But they also weren't polished. But that didn't stop someone from taking an interest and helping to polish them so they could create some great music. And music we will listen to forever.

Ron was constantly talking about were the girls were as of today. Not were they could be.

>Yes, I have one. It's just that I have so many CDs, and so little interest in most new music (which I don't mind buying on CD), that I don't download music. That would be the girls <g>.

I thought pulling together the list would be easy; only took me 3 seconds after the 5 minutes writing the program, but maybe people just aren't interested in that. You're idea of just putting a couple favs down might work better.

Nothing personal. In my case it would involve considerable effort to do it right, since there is so much music I like. I could spend literally days putting a list of favorite songs together without boiling it down to fewer than 500. And then I would spend the next week kicking myself for leaving out 500 more. No thanks.
