As long as you don't do anything radical in your CDX (like use an expression based on a UDF), yes, it will work, as follows:
1. Make sure all instances of your app are closed
2. Rename the old CDX to another name
3. Put the CDX you send in the same folder as the old one
4. REINDEX the table. This will re-sync the "good" CDX file you sent, with the customer's data
