Hi,

I am new to .NET. I just purchased Visual Studio 2005 and I am learning how to use it. I worked with the walkthrough on using Membership. I didn't finish all of the extras. However, I wanted to see if I could use my existing tables on my web site. I have shared hosting. I have SQL Server 2000. I read how I needed to use the aspnet_regsql application to select a remote SQL Server database. I ran that and it seems to have created all of the special tables it uses (aspnet_Membership, aspnet_Roles, etc.). And when I look at the web.config in the project it does show the remote server in the connection string section. Yet when I select Website...ASP.NET Configuration and go to the Security tab, it still shows the three users that I created in the local SQL Server 2005 Express database. When I add a new user it still creates it there rather than on the remote server. What am I doing wrong. I don't find the help very helpful. I'd like to use this feature rather than build it myself, but if I can't overcome this problem I will have to do it myself in code. Maybe I should get a good book from O'Reilly?

Thanks for any help,
Dana
