>yes, what a bunch of crap, all of a sudden Tony is betting his life off and spinning out of control?? At this point it's good this is the last season...

You haven't been paying attention, dude. Tony's day of reckoning has been coming for a long time. From the first episode -- remember the ducks? -- he has been a deeply conflicted man. A mob boss who goes to a therapist, sometimes expressing his rage to her. ("Depression is anger turned inward," she says to him in one memorable line). He orders guys killed, and kills some of them himself, yet at other times is a sentimentalist of the first order. IMO he is one of the most complex characters in the history of television, and James Gandolfini has made him come to life. The question all along has been, "What is going to happen to Tony?" Now we are down to the last few shows and are about to find out and some people are still b***hing. I don't get it.

IF we find out. One of the things I admire about David Chase (DeCesare actually) is his comfort with ambiguity, his reluctance to dot all the I's and cross all the T's. Life's like that. I won't be a bit surprised if we are still wondering what happens to Tony after the last episode.
