I must say that I have had no freezes or hangups so far. My biggest gripe is incompatible software (waiting for upgrades) and missing printer drivers. Some visual aspects iro VFP but it seems that will be addressed.

I agree with Greg that I wouldnt recommend it to client until SP1 but for a demo on a laptop those visual effects press the right buttons with prospects. Also I am running this off a new laptop that came pre-installed with Vista, not off a network.

I find UAC a pain. Tried it again and again its off. There are too many alerts, and too many times you are denied access to folders you need (own) and then things don't work until you realize that under UAC mode you don't have sufficient rights. Then you have to set the rights, etc.

>We ran into a problem with Vista here as well. On a workstation or server with shared folders, the shared folders will be available for hours and sometimes days and then all of a sudden, the workstation or server is no longer visible on the network. The workstation or server actually has to be rebooted to be visible on the network again. In the meantime, when you try to get to the shared folder, you have to put up with the endless wait for the timeout to occur. Not to mention if you open up windows explorer and have a drive mapped to that shared folder the endless wait that happens...

>>I agree with your points. But in addition, after using Vista here at work for several months, I have come to the conclusion that it sucks. Several times a day it freezes up for two or three minutes. And at least once a day I have restart it. Vista seems to slow down the longer it is running. I have had to turn off all the visual enhancement (classic windows mode) in order to do basic things in VFP. But still, when openning a Open File dialog still takes several seconds (up to 30 seconds).

>>I am sure that given time (like I did with XP) that these issues will be addressed. But at the time, I would recommend it to a client.

>>>I really like the thumbnails. I don't like the new look of the Windows Explorer however, too confusing to my taste. I can't make my mind that the little triangles have replaced the good old +/- in the treeview and that they appear only when you hover the mouse over it.
>>>
>>>What bother me most however is that VFP completly mess up the Windows Explorer and the taskbar when it been running for a couple of hours. Only a reboot clean it up.

>>>>Been playing with Vista some more and I must give credit where credit is due - the visual effects are quite amazing. The application window panning/scrolling, Aero theme, application preview thumbnails, and other visual effects are quite impressive. Great for customer demos :)
