Update, you can disregard this message. I realized that, since I am really asking for clarification of MSFT's policy, it would be more appropriate to post it on the MSDN site, so I did.

Thanks.

Hi Marcia,

I have to admit that I am somewhat confused. Isn't the MSDN forum MSFT's sandbox? Then Andy is referring to MSFT's policies, correct? The UT is not solely a for-profit forum. MSFT has included a link to the UT often in the past from its own VFP sites. Anyone can post a question and watch for the answers. Also, the link that Naomi posted allows the recipient to see the entire thread at no cost. If someone sent to this site from a link later deems there is value to becoming a subscribing member, than that is a personal choice and MSFT clearly states they have no responsibility for the information provided by the links. The point of having to read the entire thread is moot because the same is the case for foxwiki links and the other vfp forum sites that many posters include in their messages. Some UT features are only available for paying subscribers, true, but not simply posting a question and viewing the responses with a direct link as Naomi posted. Also, I have seen others do the same as Naomi and post links to the UT as well as other sites with no negative response (that I could see). Now, if indeed MSFT has a policy against this, then could you point me to it? I would never intentionally violate a forum's policies so I would like it for my own reference. I do not see any prohibition here:

I am primarily concerned with truly obeying the forum's policies as well as uniformity for all members and to be honest, it certainly looks from the outside in as though the UT is being selectively banned and then so maybe the individual.

If there is a prohibition then I certainly understand and viewing it will clear the matter up entirely.

>As you know, Andy does not participate on the UT, so he will never see this.

>I wholeheartly disagree with this attitude. The solution is a solution no matter where it is posted. Giving a direct reference to a solution, in my opinion, is the right thing to do.

>You are most certainly entitled to your opinion. However, if you want to play in someone else's sand box, you gotta obey their rules. That's just the way it is.
