Or, large software vendors. We send files back anf forth using HTTPS. One version of McAfee firewall decided our app should be blocked from the internet. The users claimed there was no prompt about allowing access. And, there was no utility in the firewall to unblock our app.

Another client called. Can't upload or download files. Ask if they are running a personal firewall (80% respond "What???). They said they didn't think so. We were lucky, they were actually within walking distance.

They thought they had installed Norton AV. Had the box. Norton Internet Security. We could not find it in installed programs. No little icon in the sys tray. Finally found one process running that was a Norton process. Had to reinstall and uninstall Norton to get it to disappear. A final reinstall of Norton and everything was back to normal.

Vista is going to be a nightmare. Most of our clients expect a PC to work like a car. Turn the key and go. What else do you need to know. Their tech support is somebody's daughter or borther-in-law.
