>When I was younger, I sometimes carried a magnet in my pocket, and when nobody watched the TV, I moved the magnet back and forth in front of the TV. Everybody thought the TV was defect, and expected a big repair bill. When I told them that they could turn the set of to cool down, and then turn it on again, they thought I was a genius.
When I was teaching, we had a TV and a stereo in the teachers' lounge. The speakers were positioned around the screen, and of course there was a purple coloring near the bass driver. There was room enough on the shelf, so I moved the speaker away just about 10cm, and voila the picture was perfect.
But then the next day the cleaning lady would notice that the lineup was disturbed and would put the speaker back. I eventually gave up. There are forces on Earth that can't be messed with, the inertia puts things back no matter what you do.
I guess the purple blot is still there, after 25 years.
