Now that you mention the topic of registering...

I use DFPUG.FLL. Notice that it's an FLL, not a DLL. It has two advantages. One, you do not (need to) register it. Two, you have a thermometer at your disposal, which is a built-in function. It also has a disadvantage. It costs some money, not much, but it does.

However, since last year there appears to be around another FLL that zips, created by Craig Boyd. Its name is VFPCompression.FLL. It's free! But I think you should compare them. Eventually, DFPUG.FLL does YOUR job better and in that case the minimal costs might be worth it.

I searched for DFPUG.FLL, but had trouble finding it. It appears a (probably newer) version has been renamed to DFPUG-ZIP.FLL. The links below bring you to the places where it can be bought. The 'old' version (which I use) can be tried first. I don't know whether that is possible with the 'newer' version.
