Bob;

Thank you. I like the concept of IDE to USB. That would make life simple! My time to resolve the many issues presented by Windows Vista is limited and I am going step by step. So again thank you for the ideas. They are most helpful.

>>When I was setting up my new Vista computer and got to the "easy transfer", I could only laugh. You see the mother board of my XP machine went south and cannot be replaced as it is three years old and not available. My XP machine cannot boot.

>>>Vista comes with an app named 'easy transfer'. You need to download it for other windows versions. I am beginning to think that 'easy transfer' is a misnomer.

After five hours, I find myself wanting my XP pro back. Maybe a few more days of tire kicking will change my mind. I'll let you know.

>>>>>>>>>I installed Office 2000 this morning - everytime I run Outlook it asks me if I want to make it my default mail app and I reply yes. I get my mail. I try to open my email then Outlook crashes. I install O2k SP1 and get the same result. I use detect and repair and it tries to install O2k SP1 again. Round and round it goes. Does anyone on the UT have a fix or work around for this merrygoround?
