Hi Lennert:

This will be an interesting month.

1. The TableLayer with more than 255 fields, Big Tables (bye to the 2Gb barrier) will be debuting this Wednesday, May 9. We still have to solve some issues, for example, how can you build a table with more than 255 fields using today tools?. Well I guess this means we have to implement some more VFP commands in order to test the new functionality.

2. This Compiler release also compiles a lot more code that looks the same (no single line changed) and works the same. Thanks to that we have recompiled very important classes that now are centerpiece for the runtime. Some classes that were shipping in vfp.data.app now are in vfp.runtimeX.dll compiled without change and those are near to 10,000 lines of VFP Code.

3. There are more VFP functions and commands coming in this new release some contributed by the community.

4. We wanted to ship some pure .NET GUI classes (VFP Forms, VFP buttons), but this will have to be delayed for the next update (in a month), it was too early to release them. We'll be posting next week the first screen shots.

5. Shortly after the debut of the TableLayer we'll be posting runtimes for others platforms as Windows Mobile (Compact Framework 2.0) and some more. We have some users that will be testing in OSx (via Mono, a fully supported environment) so our guess is that OSx will join our party too.

So stay tuned We are busy improving the compiler and adding more VFP Functions and commands. And this is really fun, because we are doing it in the most powerful language ever invented: VFP. And now with the first bits of the TableLayer in place everything is looking better.
