>>I know this product has been recommended a few times on the UT and I bought a copy of it today (version 8) for a project we're busy with. What an absolutely awesome product for screen capture and related functionality. Very highly recommended. http://www.techsmith.com - US$40, a bargain.

I don't think the Snipping Tool in Vista is a great improvement over the PrtScrn/Paint. It just adds a way to capture free-form shapes (not something that usual, I guess) and a shorter way to draw something and save to a file.

SnagIt, however, has a ton of features, from this basic stuff to capturing also scrolling windows, individual controls, video, cameras output, print spools, text out of an image, directX, etc, then it has a great editor where you can draw, add texts, effects, etc, and finally dump the result to the clipboard, image or PDF files, printer, mail, fpt, office docs, and much more.

Absolutely, you can do all that with PrtScrn or the Snipping Tool but you have to also pass around many different applications. For the occasional user is not a big deal, but when you are producing documentation, writing article or presentations, I really have SnagIt as one of the more valuable assets I have. :)
