No, it'll only further mask the real problem and that's asking for serious trouble at some point. The record layout inside the file has the deleted marker as the first character of each record followed by each field in the order they are laid out in the table, so if your key field is the first one I suspect you'd see the deleted mark and/or the key clobbered.
You seriously need to get to the root cause of the corruption. It might also be disk cache related. I don't know NT4 to tell you where to look.
