I wouldn't go so far. The very fact that your back and hands are self-supported is a workout by itself, regardless of weight. As you become adept at it, you can do more and more.
I just simply couldn't stay long on it, and I'm not overweight (though I may look so :) - I still have just 3kg more than I had 30 years ago.
