The software is installed under windows and typically initiated under windows which shuts down to dos and installs a small dos version footprint on a virtual drive when the software runs the image backup which is removed after the image is created. It is all done for you. To restore the image, you simply need the floppy disk you create in advance.

>The problem that I have with Ghost is that I don't want to have to install anything on my machine to back it up. I used to use an old version of Ghost where I could move the program files to a network drive, so I could boot through DOS to a command line and run Ghost that way. I never had to install anything on the machines. This might be possible with newer versions, but I haven't tried.

>>>Which version? From what I can tell, Ghost 2003 was actually the last "real" Ghost, and ones after that were abominations of another company's software that Norton purchased.

Any suggestions are opinions on Norton? I seemed to remember having a conversation with Tracy about this awhile back, but couldn't find it.
