Yes, of course there are reasons why a corporation elects to move their manufacturing (or production) offshore.
But keeping in mind that:
1) Business has no morals;
2) Management's only duty is to protect/increase shareholder value.
... it follows that the reasons likely have little to do with impact on others. Even considerations for long-term employees, pension obligations, etc.
