Makes sense, sort of... AFAIK, the first versions of VFP did not have a filer, which, in conjunction with the Windows search working, could explain why you were not aware of VFP Filer. But I'm still not sure why you did not use the FPD26 Filer to search - maybe because you remembered it only after NIck pointed to the VFP Filer?

>Because I was not aware (even after some 12 years or so of using VFP) that there was a VFP Filer. And the reason why I thought there wasn't was that Windows had always provided the equivalent (File Manager in 3.x, Explorer or MyComputer in 9x, XP). Back in the bad old DOS days of 2.6 we only had the DOS DIR command and Filer was a boon. But it seemed redundant when Windows came along. And lo, I've never needed to use it in all these years, although it would have come in useful a few times from what I've seen, esp as it does file comparisons, which you don't get with Windows.

>>Because you said that only after Nick told you where to find the new one, I guess I rushed to assume you didn't find or trust the old one... I'm still a bit confused, as to why you asked here and didn't search using the old filer in the first place.

>>>Erm, thanks, Doru, but didn't you read just below your message: "I remembered the old filer from 2.6 days ..." ? :-)
