I don't think so, as all the woes that have descended on him have been the result of my tinkering with the original code. This system I've had as a monkey on my back for years now. I just wish you could see all the code I have to contend with - unstructured enough to make deMarco take a knife to his own throat.

>And now, he thinks of you as a technology God! He'll probably be calling you now if his toaster stops working.

>>I've sorted it with the customer now: an oldish man, not very comp. lit., talking him through it on the phone - him W98 me WinXP. I found the route eventually and I['ve got his system working as expected.
>>
>>Funny, although I made the mistake of building his exe with Foxprox (386), which seems to have goofed with his pif, today he reinstalled the std. Foxpro build, but the pif was still in 386 mode ...... or whatever! (DOS and nonsense! :-)

>>I've just finished an hour-long phone confab with him. Phew! Next bush-fire please!

>>>You're probably just going to have to look for it on the drive, unless the shortcut points to it directly. If you search for *.pif, I doubt there'll be all that many to find. I haven't seen a pif file in years, so I'm working strictly from aged memory.

>>>>>>Now, it's possible I built this system using FoxproX, rather than Foxpro. Could this be the reason? As in my other thread today, this is the same system that many clients are/were happily using. This is embarrassing as this was meant to fix a wee bug he had (to do with the printing to a file from the other message) but now it's catastrophic.
