>I have seen them with my own eyes. The secretaries in my office (early 1980s) used them in their dedicated word processing machines. Remember those? There was no networking between the different Wangs. Anyone who wanted to share files had to use "sneakernet".

I preferred the expression "frisbee network". When I first heard it, I immediately imagined a room with 40-50 people with computers, and floppies flying around.

My modest contribution to early days of networking is carrying a reel of backup tape dangling on my wrist while driving a bicycle. That was DEC NyET.
