Check out the steps in the MM .NET Dev Guide topic "Setting the Command Timeout" under the section titled "Data Access with Business Objects".
Sometimes the code will execute fine, but then as you add more data the query takes longer to execute and may exceed the default timeout setting. If you bump this value, it should solve the problem.
