>Hate to spoil your enjoyment, but I regularly see foxes out in the woods. Foxes tend to not come out in the open though, so if one does, it usually is desperate or ill. Stay away from it. I once had a rabid fox leap onto my car while I was stopped at a stop sign in my rural area. It ran across the road to house on the land there and ran straight to the house. They had to catch it and turn it over for testing and sure enough, it was rabid.

No woods of any size nearby, though there's one decent-sized park a mile or two from here, and another a little farther than that. This animal didn't move like it was sick, but who knows.
