For some reason, NC has a high number of rabies cases every year. Here in Guilford county, there were 37 confirmed cases in 2006 - the highest in the state.

>>Hate to spoil your enjoyment, but I regularly see foxes out in the woods. Foxes tend to not come out in the open though, so if one does, it usually is desperate or ill. Stay away from it. I once had a rabid fox leap onto my car while I was stopped at a stop sign in my rural area. It ran across the road to house on the land there and ran straight to the house. They had to catch it and turn it over for testing and sure enough, it was rabid.
