if you think about turning points in history the moment when Churchill became leader instead of Halifax must be one of the big ones

if Halifax had been PM then Britain would have come to a peace treaty with Germany and Hitler could have headed east. The US might never have come into the war in Europe.

All hanging on a couple of minutes in a meeting.
