It just dawned on me that when you are pulling unto a roundabout, your are turning left!. Now that is truly terrifying! :o)

>>We have roundabouts here and more are added every year. Don't you have the rule that the driver on the right has the rightaway (which keeps traffic moving into the roundabout)? Here, that is generally not the case. The person merging INTO traffic from the right must yield so there is often congestion on roudabouts because people not accustomed to them stop and wait for a clear opening. Also, since the driver already on the roudabout doesn't have to yield, they just keep going and often do not make room for someone attempting to pull in.
>
>Well the rule here, as we turn clockwise, is you must give way to traffic from the right (i.e. the next road feeding on) or to those already on the roundabout. This does keep traffic moving.
>
>Time was in France ot was the other way round and, if you were already on the R you let people onto it. This resulted i some mix-ups with Brits over there (not stopping on the R) and French over here (pushing their was into the moving R traffic).
>
>Now they've seen the light and do it our way. At every french R there are signs: "vous n'avez pas la priorite" and, just at the junction: "Cedez la passge" (give way).

>Minis are great cos when there's no other traffic one just tends to drive over the white spot and treat them like straight road.

>>>Aye, but this was photographed in the USA.

>>>BTW, what's wicked about them? I was thinking of mentioning roundabouts, and whether you guys have caught on to the advantages of them yet. I sometimes marvel at what a good idea they are, and how they keep the traffic moving, instead of those interminable start-stop-start-stop cross-roads with traffic lights that you seem happy to endure.
