Falwell, could and should have included a bunch of other categories of "sinner" when he made that statement. I wonder how long God will allow our country to exist given the downward spiral we're in. While I don't necessarily agree that the attack was brought on by gays, etc., I do think if we continue down this track, God may turn his back on us.

How many wars have been fought around the world where both sides stated, “God is on our side”? If you evoke the name of God to prove your cause is righteous, then surely you deserve to win. Does this mean that God has turned his back on those that have lost?
