I'm not really obsessive about the lawn, but I do like it to stay free of growing things other than lawn. I don't mind when the kids on the street run onto the lawn to get a ball, or walk on it to pick cherries from the cherry tree. I don't even get angry if somebody's dog poops on it.

For my money, a lawn is not just for looking at. If you can't walk on it, what good is it? But I don't want it taken over by dandelions either. Grass is nice to walk on; dandelions, not so much.
