An equivalent, I am not sure of. There are lots of other programming environments listed here (non-M$), that you could look at.

Python (not the IronPython)

There was great work being done at getting VFP 6 to run under WINE (under Linux) back a few years ago, but M$ squashed that attempt (using a time honored technique that they are now employing against Linux users and promoters since last week ;- ( ).

Best you can do right now, is run VMWARE (or other Virtual Tool) under Linux, and run Windows in the VMWARE window, then run your VFP program there. Jumping through hoops, yes, but more protected from crap that way, plus you could run those programs a lot longer that way into the future, even if M$ drops updates for XP, or heaven forbid, an XP update kills VFP. You could still run with the older XP just fine.

I would definitely experiment with Linux and VMware (takes more memory, but heck, Vista by itself is a hog).

Just my 2 cents worth!
