YOU wouldn't have any future income to make improvements to the software. Why would YOU continue to make upgrades to YOUR product if people aren't buying it. That's just common business sense in any industry!!
Customers buy products primarily because of marketing efforts by software vendors. If no marketing (or even negative marketing), who is going to buy?
