I learned programming with IBM 360 assembly language and it remains one of those closest to my heart, even though it's a grossly unproductive development environment compared to what we have today. There was just something satisfying about controlling every detail. Even C is a high level language compared to assembler. It really teaches you the fundamentals of how software executes.
