Russell,
I, for one, will be looking heavily at non M$ products and at Linux. It continues to grow. But it's going to take some time to ramp up since VFP has good legs still.None of my business really ;-) but having gone to the trouble in the last month of reviewing options in detail, I'd advise you to spend the time on PHP. Download it for Windows so you don't have to spend time or energy on the Linux part yet- not that Linux is difficult, but it's another issue that doesn't need to be tackled right now. Make sure you also download PEAR which is a searchable PHP repository with thousands of useful add-ons. If you want to prep for Linux you can download Apache for Windows as well. JMHO.
It's a slap in the face to this community. What do you reckon is motivating all this? Perhaps a sense of doom is closer for some of us than for others.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
