Thank you for taking the trouble - alas it's error 40 - the moron who is about 40 centimeters from the screen - namely me.

In one of my more basic form classes I'd written in the Activate method:

This.Icon = ''

Which - together with a

DoDefault()

higher up - ensures that the icon is cleared.
