I continue to see reactions that indicate a level of surprise about the EOL. No one should have been at all surprised about the decision. Sure, folks are disappointed. But anyone who truly was surprised has either been in total denial, or living on a desert island. Look, you have to acknowlege that every major trend involving Fox has been downward for many years now.

I'm not sure why you directed that at me.

But anyone who "concludes" that perceived inactivity amongst community product leaders is somehow responsible for the EOL, well, that's a crock as well. Giving that mindset a voice is not good jugement, IMO.

I've not seen anybody say that. The suggestion was made that MS marketed VFP3. At the time, Sigler acknowledged that the paltry effort was deliberate- effectively damning with faint praise. I've also seen MVPs blaming the community for VFP's demise. That point has been effectively rebutted elsewhere. I've also seen MVPs saying that their apparent inactivity in public is because they are acting ferociously in private. Well, if you want to be a leader people have to know where you're going, especially if people are worried about it. Heck, when Kennedy met the Red Peril he did it behind closed doors but the meeting was publicized so people knew he was engaging to prevent disaster. Had he been a VFP MVP he would have revealed nothing and if anybody complained he would have replied that because he kept it all secret, nobody else could possibly comment.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
