Problems with PDF in Browser Control

Greetings,

I'm having some difficulting with effectively opening a PDF file in the web browser control. The issue affects opening a PDF file stored on a network share and appears to be related to IE7 and Trust settings.

I can open a locally stored PDF file just fine, however, when I try to open a pdf stored on our file server (LAN) I immediately get a couple errors the first being "Invalid character in Line 1". I can open standard web pages just fine. Now if I add the file server path to the Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer (IE7) the files will then open without a problem.

Unfortunately, this option has the unwanted side-effect of causing a security warning to appear when opening a file or application from a desktop shortcut (user desktops are stored in the AD profile on the server).

This issue does not seem affect IE6. the same PDF files open without complaint or spoecial settings on a computer that is still running IE6.

Has anyone seen this behavoir before? I've been searching for a solution without success. Is there a different setting or something that I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan
