>>> The totality of Scriptures show Christ to be a loving individual, non-judgmental, and merciful, not someone here to slay the unrighteous.
>
>Russell, I don't mean this to be offensive in any way so please forgive me in advance....
>
>But this statement could only have been written by someone totally unfamiliar with the scriptures. Of course Jesus was loving (in fact, He is the definition of love, since Christians believe He was God in the flesh (John 1:14) and that God is love (1 John 4:8) )
>
>But to say that Christ is non-judgemental is simply not to understand who He is. Jesus warned repeatedly of a Hell of everlasting punishment for those who did not repent. His apostles echoed these teachings and church leaders throught history have followed suit.
>
>Our generation has chosen to ignore this facet of God (when they are forced to think of Him at all) and cling to the misguided belief that a loving God could not negatively judge men. You hear this all the time, i.e "Could a loving God blah blah blah .....
>
>>> But you can always find that one passage that can be twisted. And then let's remember that the Bible was written by men.
>
>Not exactly. The Bible was penned by men. It was written by God.

>Exodus 34:27:

>And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
>

>2 Timothy 3:16:

>All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness ....
>

Just a second here. Just because the men who wrote the bible say in their writings that it was written by God, that means it was?

In the stories of Sherlock Holmes, Doyle writes that the stories were written by John Watson, but I'll bet a buck they were written by Doyle.

Any takers?
