To all who added their advice and expertise, my thanks.

The problem has not been solved, but we have done an end-around on it.

There are several other applications in our system which are properly previewing reports. I wound up cloning one of them, modifying the main form to remove the old controls and drop the ones I need on it, and calling REPORT FORM using this project's methods.

I have no idea what differences there are between the two projects that could cause this behavior. My guess is there is something different in the way the data sessions are handled, although I don't see why this would matter.

At any rate, it's on to other things now.
