Hey Hugo,

Yes I'm absolutely sure it was Ubuntu. After booting the CD I saw no such icon to install to the hard disk. Maybe I should check into a newer version? I don't remember what version I tried, but it was the one that was available at the time Tommy mentioned it (several months ago?).

I remember having to go to a command window and typing something to try to get it onto the hard disk! And this was after having to read it in a forum on their web site. I couldn't find it anywhere in a readme or help file.

And yes, once you boot from the CD it also puts an icon in your desktop for you to click if you want to install it to the hard disk permanentely.

>By the way, I installed Ubuntu on two very different computers, one with several paralell port cards (as I intend to use it as a printer server, and I have like 3 old printers which use this port) and the other one has a TV Tuner and a brand new DVD-Writer, for I intend it to use it as multimedia Server, and in both cases it recognized all hardware without problems, the only problem is my laziness and I never finished my project :)

>>I think you are correct in stating that PCLinuxOS is better and easier to use. I tried Ubuntu (after reading about it from your previous post) and it was a PITA to intall onto a hard disk. PCLinusOS definitely got it right by putting an icon on the desktop to painlessly allow you to install it to the hard disk.

>>BTW, love the screen savers that come with PCLinuxOS :)
