>>Download it, burn it to a CD, and install it as a dualboot system (but backup your data FIRST!!). Then you will have a dualboot Windows - Linux system. (Let me emphasize again... BACK UP YOUR DATA... if you do this. Heck, I'd back up my data if I was upgrading to Vista!!).

>>Yes, it doesn't do EVERYTHING you have in Windows, but by this time next year, that may be a moot point. It does about everything I need, and it's FREE. Oh, did I mention, it is an out-of-the-box experience? You won't need to download anything to be productive right after the install...

>I think you are correct in stating that PCLinuxOS is better and easier to use. I tried Ubuntu (after reading about it from your previous post) and it was a PITA to intall onto a hard disk. PCLinusOS definitely got it right by putting an icon on the desktop to painlessly allow you to install it to the hard disk.

My only problem is, I can't get the Beryl 3DDesktop to work with my crappy ATI Radeon Express 200 chipset.... crash city. Otherwise... wow!
And, I set up VMWare Server on it, and installed my XP on it in a Virtual Machine... works even FASTER there, than natively... can you believe that???? Now I am setting up other Distros in VMWare Server for testing purposes.... so sooon... Windows XP will be gone as a dual boot on that PC!
