I think that another reason for our political representatives voting for what Bush wanted was due to emotion – personal and that expressed by the public due to the WTC incident. That old expression, “Give him an inch and he will take a mile”, applies to what Bush did after receiving the approval of congress.

>>I want someone with the honesty to say "Based on what I knew at the time, I would make the same decision again." But I wouldn't blame them for changing their mind about what current policy should be based on what we have learned over the years. Someone who says "I made a mistake and shouldn't have done that" is, in my opinion, simply pandering to current popular opinion.

>That was actually one of the things I respected her for. Many made decisions at that time based upon the information available. She was honest about the whole thing and did not apologize for voting for the war. I didn't think she should apologize. She made a very difficult call at the time and she didn't know what we now know. Few if any did. I think any who really did know will eventually be found out. That is my primary conflict with John Edwards. He panders.

>>>Not at all, except that people are voted into congress based on their position on many issues. A representative is supposed to represent their constituency afterall. However, it is difficult to know whether or not that person does indeed represent your views when their position keeps changing.

>>>There is a clip out there of the many back and forth positions Hilary has taken.
